Terms of Service

Business: Machado Method Jiu-Jitsu Carrollton Governing State: Texas Last Updated: July 2, 2026

Train hard, train safe, treat the mat and each other with respect. These terms cover how you use our website and our programs, the risks that come with martial arts training, and the ground rules at the academy. The membership agreement you sign in person is the document that controls your specific plan and billing. Nothing here replaces legal advice.

1. Acceptance of Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of machadomethodcarrollton.com and any services provided by Machado Method Jiu-Jitsu Carrollton ("we," "us," or "our"). By using our website, submitting a form, signing up for our free intro class, or enrolling in any program, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use our services.

2. Programs and Services

We offer pure Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instruction. Program slate, age bands, and class lengths are listed at machadomethodcarrollton.com/programs. Program schedules, class lengths, and instructor assignments may change. Current details are posted at the academy and on our website.

3. Eligibility and Minors

Adult members must be 18 or older to enroll themselves. A parent or legal guardian must enroll any student under 18 and agrees to these Terms on the minor's behalf. The enrolling parent or guardian is responsible for the minor's conduct, attendance, and compliance with academy rules, and confirms the minor is able to participate in physical activity.

4. Free Intro Class

Our entry offer is a free intro class.

  • The free intro class provides access to an age-appropriate class so you can try training before you decide.
  • It does not auto-convert to a paid membership, and no recurring charges are started by it.
  • After your intro class, you are under no obligation to enroll.
  • We ask that you arrive on time and complete a brief waiver before stepping on the mat.

5. Memberships, Billing, and Cancellation

Membership terms, pricing, billing cycles, and cancellation procedures are presented in writing and confirmed at enrollment. Some memberships bill on a recurring basis. By signing a membership agreement, you authorize the recurring charges described in that agreement and accept its specific terms, which control over any conflicting terms in this document. To ask about current membership options or to change or cancel a membership, ask the front desk or call or text us at (469) 465-9426.

6. Assumption of Risk and Release

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and martial arts training involve physical contact, grappling, exertion, and the use of mats and equipment. Training carries an inherent risk of injury, including sprains, strains, bruises, joint injury, and, in rare cases, serious injury. By participating, you voluntarily accept these risks for yourself and, for a minor, on the minor's behalf.

To the maximum extent permitted by Texas law, you release and hold harmless Machado Method Jiu-Jitsu Carrollton, its owners, instructors, employees, and contractors from claims for injury, loss, or damage arising from participation in classes, events, or use of the facility, except to the extent caused by our gross negligence or willful misconduct. This website release is in addition to, and does not replace, the liability waiver and release you sign in person at enrollment, which governs your participation.

7. Health Representation

You represent that you and any minor you enroll are in adequate physical condition to participate, and that you have disclosed any medical condition relevant to safe training. We recommend consulting a physician before beginning any new physical activity. You agree to inform an instructor of any injury or condition that affects safe participation.

8. Code of Conduct

Members and visitors agree to follow academy rules posted on the premises, arrive with clean gear and good hygiene, treat instructors, staff, and fellow students with respect, and follow all safety instructions from instructors at all times. We reserve the right to refuse service, and to suspend or terminate a membership without refund, for conduct that threatens the safety, respect, or integrity of the academy.

9. Photo and Video Release

We photograph and record classes, events, and promotions, and these may include members and minors enrolled with parental consent. By training with us, you grant permission to use such images and video in our marketing and on our website and social media, unless you decline the media release in your enrollment paperwork or ask us to stop using specific media. See our Privacy Policy for details.

10. No Guarantee of Results

Training outcomes, skill progression, belt advancement, fitness results, and self-defense ability depend on individual effort, attendance, and other factors. We do not guarantee any specific result from participation in our programs.

14. Disclaimers

Our website and services are provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the maximum extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the website will be uninterrupted or error free.

15. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Texas law, Machado Method Jiu-Jitsu Carrollton is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of our website or services. Our total liability for any claim relating to our services is limited to the amount you paid us for services in the twelve months before the claim. Specific liability terms for training participation are set forth in the membership agreement and in-person waiver.

16. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Machado Method Jiu-Jitsu Carrollton, its owners, officers, employees, and contractors from claims arising out of your use of our services, your violation of these Terms, or your breach of academy rules.

17. Governing Law and Venue

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute arising under these Terms is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Dallas County, Texas.

18. Dispute Resolution

If a dispute arises, we ask that you first contact us so we can try to resolve it informally. If we cannot resolve it, either party may pursue the matter in the courts identified in Section 17. Nothing in these Terms requires arbitration.

We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last Updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
